The Affordable Care Act (ACA) has now been implemented with new regulations and mandates. The Business Council of Westchester is committed to ensuring that businesses aren’t faced with undue burdens under the ACA and will advocate for legislation to fix problems as they arise. It is too early to tell if the ACA will control costs, but The Business Council will support legislation that will fix the underlying cost drivers of the health care system so that premium relief for businesses can be achieved.
Accordingly the Business Council will focus on the following areas:
Oppose new 1099 Reporting requirements that will add costly administrative burdens to small businesses.
Get Costs Under Control: Utilize a number of cost effective strategies such as medical liability reform, health information technology, small business pooling, combating fraud and abuse, consumer-driven health options, wellness prevention. Administrative simplification, and allowing individuals and small businesses to deduct the full cost of health insurance expenses.
